Top 12 teams advance to LAN ETS Double Elimination

Heather "sapphiRe" Mumm on Sat, 03/02/2013 8:09PM
    Vae Victis
After a long day of matches, the round robin stage at LAN ETS has come to an end. The top three teams from each group have advanced to a double elimination, best of one bracket. The top team from each group was awarded a BYE.

Headlining Group A was Crucial Connexion, last year's ETS runner-up. With a 4-0 record, Crucial Connexion was paired up with Vae Victis, another undefeated team. In an exciting match that drew a larger crowd, Vae Victis took down Crucial Connexion for a solid 5-0 record and first place in the bracket. Crucial Connexion was close behind at 4-1, followed by Contra Force.

    powerMode
Group B, the most difficult group in the tournament, featured Devastation, powerMode and CyberRevolution; three teams that are no strangers to LAN ETS. Devastation managed to take down powerMode on de_inferno with a 16-13 score and also topped CyberRevolution on de_nuke. Devastation finished at 5-0 and earned a first round BYE. powerMode trailed Devastation with a 4-1 record, while CyberRev pulled into the double elimination at 3-2.

Team Dynamic, last year's champs, cruised through most of Group C. A match against revised version of the old Check-Six CS:S line-up, playing as nrkGaming|Vae Victis, turned out to be Dynamic's most difficult match. Regardless, Dynamic still finished on top at 5-0. Excluding the loss to Dynamic, nrkGaming was undefeated and claimed the second seed. Mentally Challenged finished in third at 3-2.

    Ubinited

The final Group saw Ubinited and Trademark eSports battling it out in the final round for the group's top seed. After a close first half, Trademark eSports pulled away in the second half for the match victory. Ubinited received the second seed. With a 3-2 record, Killing-Spree slid in for the final seed.

Twelve teams have advanced to the double elimination bracket with the top four receiving BYEs. Matches are scheduled to begin Saturday evening.

nrkGaming | VAE VICTIS vs. Killing-Spree

Mentally Challenged and CyberRevolution are awaiting the results of two upper bracket matches to determine their lower bracket opponent.

Crepe Invasion would have been a sweet team name for one of the French-Canadian teams.
