For this installment of the ESEA Podcast Katherine "Mystik" Gunn, joins me to discuss her gaming background, what it was like to win $100,000 and her plans for the money, insight into her love life, and a brief argument as to why girls aren't as good as guys at video games. Eric "BiGG" Wallace also joins us for a spirited round of "Ban or Bailout", the segment which lets the community decide whether or not a Premium member should have a specific ban expunged from their record or not. Note that the Ban or Bailout poll will be up this week, so stay tuned.
I'd also like to point out that this episode was actually taped directly after the airing of the Ultimate Gamer Season 2 finale. Production problems have delayed the release of this Podcast until now. I apologize for the delay, and hope everyone enjoys.
I don't agree with breaking things up into girls/guys. If you cannot compete at a top level then why should you get money handed to you for competing on an easier league.
This is not only unfair to the girls but also to the males who arguably will have a tougher battle for an equal amount of money.
Its not fair that you can't compete at a top level? There is nothing biologically that makes women worse then men at gaming. Maybe if you took the time to learn aspects of what ever game you are playing and practiced with your heart into it you could make it to a top tier. You shouldn't be a pro gamer if you don't deserve it. Women shouldn't have things made easy for them simply because they are women, that is counter-productive to what is trying to be achieved here.
FYI, I've played with women that were equal to or better than men in their respective games before and on teams other than counter-strike. Most of these girls do not want to be known as girls because of the amount of immature men that go around bugging them, so they play as men instead.
I'm just trying to point out the irony of her she isn't about girls gaming and being treated special, and then a few minutes later she goes on to talk about leagues should be split between genders because women can't make it in the top 3 due to their skill and thus should be handed out prize money and sponsorships simply because they are women and can't make it in the actual leagues with men.
