Connor "CAKEbuilder" Gentilcore and William "dong" Dong have worked together to bring you one of our very first CS:GO videos. In this video, the duo introduces you to one of the brand new items to CS:GO, the Molotov. Will it be used in competitive mode? How effective is it really? Check out the video below to find out!
how long does it take to throw it if you just tap mouse1 or do you have to light it on fire and keep it like that first?

The throwing action is just like a grenade in CS/CSS tap it, and it does it's thang. You don't need to wait and see the actual lighting before you're able to throw it
i would say that range is very significant, other than that.. nice analysis

Actually, the Molotov does not explode until it is contacted - so it can actually be thrown quite the distance and won't explode until it's contacted/hits skybox
(CS:GO doesn't have a distinct viewdemo feature yet so it was kind of hard to distinguish some things but I will answer as many questions you guys have as possible, sorry.)
it actually works really well. For example, throwing it on A rail keeps awpers from being able to pick people pushing up cat and makes it easier to take the site without having to worry about the awper.
It's a cool video, should be interesting to see if it is used in competitive play or not allowed.
#20 yea right now the dps is too high imo and it's pretty op for competitive play just because it's too easy to force players off common angles for too long.
#24 logically speaking you should be able to. But unless you somehow know that they are guaranteed rushing you there thats a waste of $850
#25 I'm thinking the same thing, $850 is a considerable amount. Seems like more of a luxury rather than a necessity. With the amount that it's priced at now, I doubt it will be used commonly in matches/competitive play unless a one team is blowing out the other and can afford them without it impacting buying vital items like guns and grenades.
It's a nice and welcomed addition as far as I am concerned and so is the decoy grenade. It's not OP at all when you take into consideration the 2nd flashbang has been removed from the game and it is a fairly expensive item. The timing on it is perfect for how long it burns and while it is game altering it is not game breaking.
As expected it is great for thwarting rushes and protecting a bomb site, along with the fire it provides a nice blanket of smoke cover as well which is very effective. The decoy grenade sounds like a gimmick at first but has saved me several times and opened me up to some nice 3 & 4k's where the enemy team is distracted and looking in the direction of the noise.
These things are different for sure but in the grand scheme of things I personally believe they will better the game and make it more tactical than it already is.
imo, will be more useful for ct's then t's.
for instance on d2 if you know a team is 3/2 splitting A, all you really have to do is toss 1/2 of those things on cat, and then only will need to focus on long.

#48 pretty sure u can just take like 10-20 dmg and run through them. in my opinion I think it's really stupid to have molotovs in cs, while retaking any site, just throw 5 molotovs to 5 different spots, and these are not like grenades where you need about 3-5 to kill someone. with these molotovs 1 is enough to kill an enemy if they don't move, so 5 molotovs will pretty much force enemy team to move out of 5 spots, and well, that doesn't really leave the Ts many options.
