    WCG Announces 4 Games for 2012; CS 1.6 not included

    In what has been a roller coaster off-season for major event organizers, the WCG organizers have announced their first four games of the 2012 season. Most notably missing from the the list is the longtime title Counter-Strike 1.6. Instead, the organizers have opted to go for Counter-Strike: Online, a free-to-play version centered in Asia. It is still possible that another version of Counter-Strike is announced, but is unlikely due to CS:Online.

    While they have made it clear that they are still discussing future titles with game developers, it is unknown what other games could be announced. A game like League of Legends or StarCraft 2 would be expected, but it is unknown at this time.


    The following games are confirmed:
    • Cross Fire
    • FIFA 12
    • Counter-Strke: Online
    • World of Tanks

    “We are excited to unveil the game titles for the WCG 2012 Grand Final, which are the world’s most popular titles across every genre in competitive gaming today.” said Brad Lee, CEO of World Cyber Games, Inc. “And we look forward to another exciting year of competition to crown the best players in the world.”

    WCG 2012 Grand Finals will take place at the Kunshan International Exposition and Convention Cetner in Kunshan, China from November 29th to December 2nd.

    Was it also WCG that said they were going to focus on mobile gaming for awhile and that got canned?

    I can live without CS 1.6 / CS:S / CS:GO even though they are my favorite games... but where is LoL? Where is SC2? Is this real life?
