Seeds finalized for ESEA S12 TF2 Invite LAN

After two months of intense TF2 action, the ESEA-Invite S11 regular season matches have concluded. Eight teams started the season. Three teams died early while five completed all sixteen matches. Of the remaining five teams, four have qualified to compete in Season 12 of the ESEA-Invite LAN playoffs, hosted in Dallas, Texas on November 16-18, 2012.

The last few weeks of the season were full of very close matches, but also saw teams dropping out of the season who had no real chance of making it to LAN. The biggest story line of the last few weeks of the season, however, was the battle for the 4th and final LAN playoff spot between The Chess Club and No Need for Names TF2. In what would be their third encounter of the season, with Chess Club winning two times before, this match was the deciding match in who would get the final LAN spot. Both teams were dealing with some roster issues, with weeble from Chess Club and rr- from No Need for Names both calling it quits before this final match up of the season. After a very tight and close game, The Chess Club would ultimately edge out the 5-4 victory over No Need for Names.

Another big story line for the last few weeks of the season was the undefeated streak of Classic Mixup, who going into the last week of the season were 14-0. With Mixup getting the free win from the dead Mighty Ducks team, the only team left between them and becoming only the second team in TF2 Invite history to go 16-0 in the regular season was Leviathan Gaming TF2. Leviathan Gaming, who were recently dealing with the departure of their former starting scout clockwork to Spacewhales, had been in the hunt for a new scout player for what seemed like forever. Right before the roster locks, they decided on bringing former Evil Genius' scout Hero out of retirement and into the spotlight once more. This match was very close from the start, and was a definite nail biter to the very end of the match. In what was the most exciting match of the week, Classic Mixup were able to pull away with the narrow 5-4 victory over Leviathan Gaming and complete the perfect season, going 16-0.

In just over one month, all four teams will head down to Dallas, Texas where they will compete for a share of the $10,800 prize and bragging rights as North America's top TF2 team.
